Oh my. This card was a nightmare to make. You know how, when you’re a card-maker, you no longer get away with any old card for special occasions ? Yeah, this is one of those occasions where every idea I had was so duff !!
My FIL recently moved into a new house, so this is to celebrate that big event. They’ve been trying to move now for a couple of years ( housing market ? what market ?) so it is quite an event. I based the card on Debbie’s beautiful layout
*Images: wreath base is Wreath For All Seasons by Papertrey Ink, flowers/leave/etc miscellaneous but mostly Rubber Tapestry
* Sentiment is Wreath For All Seasons by PTI
Incidentally, a little cheeky detail I added was the insert. The house is called Nutwood, as in Rupert Bear, who was obviously popular with the previous owner. They are currently de-Rupert-ing the house… but I have scanned DD’s Rupert book and made the insert from a couple of comic pages… Tee-hee !!

I was commisioned to make a birthday card for a “Christian, 80 year old lady”
Here’s the result:
Okay, you need to click on the photo to see the outlines roses – this card ain’t that simple !!
* Roses are Papertrey Ink’s YOF: Rose
* Sentiment is Papertrey Ink’s Beautiful Blessings
It’s very simple ( perhaps too simple ? ) but based on Laurie’s beautiful card Hope it’s ok !!

I was commisioned to make a fisherman’s card for a 60 yr old. I think this hits the targets !!

Diecuts: Papertrey Ink By the Number
I hadn’t originally thought about this image, wanting to use another polyer image. However, I have had a storage issue. I keep my stamps on both sides of CD cases, and the top layer of polymer on one stamp has stuck to the top of another stamp and ruined it 😦 So today will be spent putting acetate sheets in all my CD cases. Miffed, but hopefully that’ll sort it.
Have a great day !

This is a birthday card for my bestie, Liz. It’s a CASE of this card by Chat ( cool name !!) LOTSA layering !

*Sentiment: old Hero Arts – this is one of the first stamps I ever bought !

First time I’ve ever played with this challenge ! Check it out here !
I chose to use both the sketch and the colours from the picture to create this:
* Sentiment and dies: Papertrey Ink
Gosh, this card is so beyond my colour comfort zone ! I picked out the distress inks I had in the colours of the picture and smooshed them on my craft mat before spritzing with water and dragging my cardstock through it. I LOVE this technique;it looks so arty for something so simple !! After mounting my stamped panel, I thought it looked too stark on the plain white background so I did a second generation stamping using the same stamp and the distress inks – it just lifted the white from the white.
Anyhow, I like ! maybe I should come out of the comfort zone more often…

Gotcha, didn’t I ?
Hi mum!!! Yes, I’ve posted something !
* Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo
* Negative Banners: Stampin’ Up Sale-a-bration punch
This card was made because I simply felt like it. This is my new kind of thinking. I came into my 40th year with the usual list of things to achieve, and, pretty quickly in, life threw me a curve ball when my CFS walloped me. I’m still in recovery mode, some days are better than others, but I feel like I’m inching forward. S-L-O-W-L-Y. I’m trying to be in the moment, not constantly chasing the never-ending list. And that’s hard sometimes…
Anyhow, this card was inspired by the new RetroSketches challenge. To be honest, at first look, the sketch was one I didn’t think I’d ever get. You know how some sketches just resonate? Not this one. Nope. But, whilst in my craft room yesterday, I glimpsed a sheet of ‘had-to-have’ DP that ended up a busy nightmare to work with, and I realised that it could totally work with this sketch. And then I was using my new SU banner punch and I thought it would be cute to use the negative spaces, and then I just needed a sentiment ! Love it when it works like that !
I used this sentiment simply because it fit the space, but I’m now thinking it would be a great cheeky card for a friend of mine who is a coeliac ( not that I am making fun of the condition, we were around through the lengthy diagnosis and know how hard it is to live with it. I bake for our bible study group that he attends, and, after promising him the cheese scones he craved, he couldn’t eat them as they had worcestershire sauce in them. Which is not gf….)
Anyhow… I’m making a few more cards tomorrow as it’s half-term. (oops, after I phone my mum….) so perhaps I’ll get another post written too ! But no pressure….

I love this colour scheme !
I also love the layout, which is a straight CASE from Maille Belles over at Simply Stamped – that girl has talent !
I used Papertrey Ink’s Little Bitty Birds and All Booked Up stamp sets, paired with the Mat Stack 3 die. The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse’s Half Pint Heroes.

Second entry !
December 30, 2013 at 3:28 pm (A Day for Daisies)
I’m just posting a couple of cards I made for my husband’s work this year. He decided he wanted to raise money to twin a toilet through Tearfund ( oh, yes, I’m serious – read about it here…. ) and he asked me to make some cards. These two went the fastest – a testament to Tammy’s fabulous artwork ! Tammy is , of course the owner and illustrator of the lovely Day for Daisies digi company.
I’m going to enter both of these into the new challenge at the Day for Daisies blog – anything goes !
November 13, 2013 at 4:10 pm (Stampin' Up)
hello ? *tap tap*
I know, I’m a lousy blogger. I also know I’m not writing this for anyone, as even my mum has said she’s given up on my blog – well, so would I have, by this point ! Life has been challenging and I have very little to show for it except being signed off and a new treatment course of strong drugs, homeopathic remedies and serious thinking about what has to change. It’s all a bit much.
So now I am signed off, I have been dabbling again in my craft room, and came up with this card. I do like it. I like the quietness of it. Anyhow, here are the details:
Main image : free stamp from December 2013 Craft Stamper
Background : Stampin’ Up Lovely as a Tree on DSP
I’m leaving you with a song that is running around my head – Joy by Tracey Thorn.
It’s kinda where I’m at just now – living the awareness of pain and sadness, and trying to accept the limitations of my illness, but also trying to fight through and recognise the quiet moments of grace (‘it’s because of the dark, we see the beauty in the spark’) And by grace, I mean the ‘undeserved blessings and unconditional gifts’ of my faith, something which the song makes no reference to. We are entering the season of true grace, the unconditional gift of a child born to bring the undeserved blessings of light and hope to all who have hands and hearts open to recieve. I am sorry if that sounds preachy to you, but – referring to my comment earlier about not expecting anyone to be reading this ! – the only person I am preaching to is myself. So, girl, get off the computer, go and pray !
