Stick to tradition, folks !

Having a LOVELY relaxing day crafting !

I saw a sketch at Karen Giron’s Sweetest Thing blog and jiggled it over to suit my image better. I also missed the tabby bit off my card because it didn’t work ( is all this ok??!)

I am REALLY pleased with how nicely coloured this My Tower image from A Day For Daisies has come up. It’s an alcohol ink coloured digi image – all very out of my comfort zone ! – and I ESPECIALLY love her hair ( I ALWAYS wanted Rapunzel hair – my niece is well on her way to achieving it !) The text background paper is actually the story of Rapunzel – another great digi overlay from Mel Stampz !

This card matches the criteria for the new challenge over at A Day For Daisies – script/text – so I am entering it for that !

You may notice I have not used the name “Tangled” anywhere in this post. We recently saw the DVD and I was ‘meh’ about it. I am not a big animated fairy-tale person as the stories seem to becoming more and more corrupted from the originals, and I don’t see how the plot of Tangled is an improvement on Rapunzel. It all feels a little plagiaristic – which, to a teacher, is an anathema !! I am, however, rather looking forward to Brave which seems finally to have the kind of heroine I want my nearly-6 to look up to !! Hoots, mon, we breed wur lassies t’be fearless an’ bold in this soggy wee land !!!

Ummm….. Hello ?

It’s been THREE MONTHS since I posted ????

Oh my….

Okay, I may have neglected my blog, but not my crafting. The problem is, I fell in love. Actually, I fell back in love. No, DH and I are fine, but I have refound my passion for teaching. And it’s fun again after being a bit of a slog for the past few years. Anyhow, it’s the holidays and I am finally getting back into papercrafting. I have quite a few stamps that haven’t seen ink, so I do plan to use them, and I have a few fabric projects that need to be fulfilled too. You should be seeing more of me.

So let’s get started !

My cousin and her husband have also found a new love in the last month  – they had a baby girl !! Here’s the card I sent them. One of the panels looks a bit messy because I have covered up all the birth information. I used a mixture of stamps including Papertrey Ink’s Baby Button Bits.

This is a design I use for family and friend’s baby cards, and frequently, the biggest problem I have is matching all the background papers – no longer !! I have found a great source of digital overlays so I just choose a base colour and switch the overlays to suit – THANK YOU SO MUCH MEL STAMPZ !!!

I am really pleased with this, and I am going to enter it for the new A Passion for Papertrey comp – Anything Goes !

Ahhh, it’s nice to be back !
