Christmas Table Runner

Bit of the thread for this post !!

I started this last year, in a post-Christmas creative frenzy – and we all know how the frenzy ended up ! However, I have stolen snatches of time over the last couple of months to put it tagether and then machine quilted it on Sunday afternoon. I am SOOOO pleased with how it turned out – and it is HUGE. It’s meant for our extended table so its about 3m long. So I’m now sorting out my other UFOs – including the Eye-spy quilt for the 5 yr old… !

Baby girl’s Christmas card

I have never made a Christmas card especially for DD before, but, as she gets older, I realise that she really loves getting one of Mumma’s cards – so long as it has enough sparkle and bling ! I’m pretty sure I haven’t shoved enough glitter on for her taste, but I’m honestly not sure I could !!

I wanted to use an angel image for her, and, as she is a very musical child, I thought this stamp would be appropriate. As DD LOVES pink, I coloured the dress and paper-pieced her wings, ruffling them up for some texture ( and who says angels just wear white nighties !! ) The background is pearlescent card glimmer-misted and then embossed with text – DD is learning to read and, frankly, is doing BRILLIANTLY ! Like her mama, she’s a real word girl ! As I felt there wasn’t enough pink already (!!) I spritzed the base card with a glimmer mist too. The sentiment is stamped and embossed on a half a nestie-diecut. I hope she likes it …she’s more than likely to tell me if it’s not good enough … !

* ‘Harmony Angel’ is from Stampendous

* Sentiment is TAC (I think…)

* text embossing plate is Papertrey Ink’s Book Print impression plate ( best embossing ever done with it. Not sure if it’s because I fiddled with the sandwich layers or because the cardstock would have been slightly damp…)

I am entering this for the Christmas Challenge at A Passion for Papertrey, but really, I just hope DD likes it !

It’s nice just to rest a while and feel my creative soul ( ok and catch up on Glee!! ) Life has been a bit rough recently. After MONTHS of root canal treatment at the Dental Hospital ( with appointments lasting 2 hrs…) the tooth they were working on fractured just before the last appointment, and had to be taken out. I say taken, I mean 30 mins of ripping it out ( and this was the good guys doing it – that tooth was determined to stay! ) They then realised that I have – and I quote – “one of the longest horizontal slides the consultant has ever seen …” Well, yay, for me…. ANYHOW, long story short, I may need more corrective treatment in the future, but they want to monitor it for the next year. Now I just need to get a splint made to wear at night to correct my grinding – and save more teeth from breaking. Apparently, I’m doing it because I’m stressed…

Parent’s Night, Inservices, school planning on top of DH picking up more shifts at work so I’m on morning duty with the 5yr old….. ?? Maybe ???

Oh, and Christmas is only 4 school weeks away….

Never mind – I’m having a day off today from it all !! I love the stamp on offer as a prize in the new Christmas Challenge at A Passion For Papertrey, so I thought I’d have a go. I had planned to make the card much fussier and fancier, but I fell in love with the quiet simplicity of this layout.

I just got this Papertrey Take Three set. Yup, it’s the summer one, but I just saw these little birdies stamped in icy blue ! I think I got away with it ! And the snowflake background is a resist technique I learned from the Jennifer McGuire class – I am determined to keep challenging myself to use these techniques !

* Birds -Papertrey Ink’s Take Three Summer

* Sentiment – Papertrey Ink Fillable Frames 8

* The snowflakes on the mat layer are a variety from loads of different sources !

Right, I am off to make a super-fancy, super-glittery card for DD’s Christmas. And pink ? Oh yes !!!
