ZOOOOOOOOM !

Another child card for the box !

* main image is Oscar with Plane by Squiggle Stamps , his dungarees are paper-pieced, and the rest coloured with pencils and felt tips ( I’m so glam !!)

* aeroplane image is Fly Away from Papertrey Ink

Now for the interesting bit…. Because I have been making these for the box, I am making 4 or 6 cards at a time, I am decimating my DP stack. Which is ok (cos then we can buy more, right?!) but it has meant that I have run out of paper on occasion. Arrgh. And it can be tricky matching colours – even with 4000 sheets of DP. Sooooo, I thought I’d try printing and using some of my digital scrapbooking papers …RESULT !!! I can now officially never run out of matching DP again !!!

The polka dot and plaid papers I used here are from a digital pack called Preschool Play Papers by a company called Raspberry Road Designs I got them from her blog ages ago – and I can’t find the same set now, but go browse and you’ll get some FABULOUS papers- she even has some great freebies ! I use my photo-editing programme to scale them from 12×12 to A4 and I do print on a good quality matte paper. Naturally, if you Google free digital scrapbook papers, you will get a gazillion hits – it’s all about finding the companies or designers that produce designs you like. Seriously worth a try !

* sketch is by Bev Rochester

I’m putting this into the Stampin’ Sisters in Christ paperpiecing challenge !

Spring girl

She’s a sweetie, isn’t she !

I really tussled with this card – I have a few of these child-like images from various companies, but they really throw me when I make cards so I rarely use them. However, they are super popular, so I am hoping that they sell well in the box !

* sketch is by Bev Rochester

* image is Daisy with Balloon from Squiggle Stamps. I stamped her on white, then masked her skin before spritzing with various Glimmer Mists. I paper-pieced her dress, and coloured the rest in.

* corner punch is daisy by Dovecraft

* backing paper is K and Company Dollhouse

* pink spotty – well, I have a little confession to make …which you will have to read my next post for details about. It was designed by Raspberry Road Designs

*border punch is a Fiskars

All else is stash !

I am entering this for the March Spring challenge on the Squiggles and  Giggles Blog – I’d like a few more of their designs so fingers crossed !! I am also entering it for the Stampin’Sisters in Christ paper-piecing challenge !

Misty woodlands

This card is inspired by the technique used by Heather over at bits and pieces I discovered her while browsing through someone else’s blog link – fun to do sometimes !

Such a simple technique – rip paper to form a ‘hilly’ mask and sponge ink on top. Then, without removing the mask, stamp your image. As I went into the background, I stamped my ink off once before stamping it again (without re-inking) onto the cardstock. I’m happy with this !

* Images: trees are from Papertrey Ink’s Through The Trees set, sentiment and stag  is from Masculine Motifs – also PTI

* Ink is Pumice Stone Distress

Mum’s card

My mum was up babysitting DD yesterday and she made a card. It’s to go to DD nursery where she went to talk to them about her time living in Africa.

I can’t remember where the Africa stamp came from, but the animals and sentiment are a Woodware set called Jungle Pals. ( I could get all pedantic here and mention that lions and giraffes are certainly not jungle animals but DD has been hearing enough of that recently !) DD herself sat and made sticks puppets totally independently. Cool !

THANKS FOR COMING UP, MUM !!

Lydia, Babs and Senga

…is what I’ve christened these girls – I love ’em !

You just know these girls would party you under the table and be up for church the next morning. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I got them from, but the sentiment is an old TAC (I think….)

Anyhow, I hope your day is as fab as the girls day would be ( high tea, anyone ?!)

Cutesy Decoupage ?!!

I have to say, that if you gave me a set of cutesy decoupage as a gift, I wouldn’t really thank you (well, yes, I would, because I am a properly-brought-up-young-woman. Honest ! ) Decoupage is SOOOO fiddly and really, I don’t do proper cuddly-wuddly, cutesy-wootsey, personified animals etc.

BUT….

There is an exception. I am the Forever Friends generation, and they do have a certain nostalgic appeal to me. That, matched up with die-cut decoupage (no fiddly cutting !!) and a retro male theme made these cutesy decoupage irresistable.

I kind of adapted the Docraft sketch Challenge by Clare for most of the cards. About half of these cards will go into the birthday book – and the rest are destined for the box !

More Fussy Piecing

I realised I hadn’t posted this…

It’s more fussy piecing using an Elzybells set. This is for my SIL – I specifically bought this set to make cards for her !!! There’s not really much more to say than that – all else is scraps and stash, and I’m afraid I don’t know who made the template set that I used to cut all the pieces from, sorry !

Welcome sunshine !!!

Bright, innit ??

This is CASEd from Vicky at Crafting Claire – I love her style. It was quick and simple too, and I think it has a very different ‘feel’ from Vicky’s – her’s is so restful and quiet. Mine is …ummm, wakeful and noisy ?! But I do like it !

* Flower image and sentiment are from SmARTWORKS Bloom On plate

* Inks are Wild Honey Distress ( blended with a water pen – I need more practice at that !! ) and Ancient Page Saffron

Told ya I was BAAAACK !!!

(sidebar – currently listening to the Taylor Swift concert on Radio 2. Not sure if it makes me cool or sad….I’m just so down with the kids…..!!!)

Anyhow, here’s another card for the box – go here to read about the box !! – I CASEd it from Risa at Memory Preserves, as usual simplifying it for cheapness and laziness purposes !!

I only used 1 stamp on this card, but the Cuttlebug got a workout !!

* Dies are Papertrey Ink (Butterfly) and Spellbinders Label 1 (halved)

* Embossed leaf is a cuttlebug folder ?

* Sentiment was a Creativity magazine freebie

All else is stash !

So, you wanna hear what all the fuss is about ?

Blessings to you

I know, I know …it’s been a while – did you miss me ? My health issues went into the driver’s seat for a while and brought their old chum depression along for a ride… however, I feel I am beginning to get a grip on things again – and have applied the handbrake to that little joy-ride !! One pointer to that effect is that I am putting stuff in the diary to do – the first being I potentially have a date for my big Tearfund card sale in church ! Wow ! I am really excited about this although it’s a bit scary putting my work out there. Anyhow, I should be filling up the blog again with pictures of my creations…. like this one !

This is a CASE of Carole’s at ISH – she does the LOVELIEST cards with lots of details and layers. I adore her cards, but cannot bring myself to use lots of layers of DP on my card base. I think it’s the cheap Scot in me coming out ! Please go and look at her stuff !

* Flower image is A Real Violet by Hero Arts coloured with markers

* Fern is ? Sorry !

* Sentiment is TAC (I think…) Both fern and sentiment are stamped with Shabby Shutters Distress ink

* Ribbon is PTI

* DP is K&Company

* Buttons are stash
