Welcome to your 30’s, Laura!

…. you’re gonna LOVE it !!!

Remember this card for Laura? Now, it’s cute and all, but for a SPECIAL birthday, it really doesn’t cut it.

Unfortunately, I have been singularly uninspired as to making a fabby card for Laura. Until, of course, the night before her birthday. A school night, may I add. A school night when I really should be researching how to teach numbers to 20, how to spell and write sentences. Oops – and make jotter labels…. Oh dear, it’s going to be a late one ūüė¶

Anyhow, finally, I think this card cuts it. It’s a two-parter. ( You really ought to click on the images to make them bigger, as I LOVE this card and i really want you to see it THISCLOSE !!!)

The paper on the front is wrapping paper Рcool, eh? The card is secured with the belly band Рall images by Elzybells Рusing lots of different inks, Glimmer Mists and Stickles.

The inside Hobby Art’s Open Candles¬†coloured with Emboss Markers and embossed with slightly sparkly powder. I gold Stickled the sparks from the flame. The sentiment is an Inkadinkado Friendly Advice – I thought it was very appropriate for a teacher ! Four of us need to sign this so there’s lots of open space – and can you guess which special birthday Laura is going to celebrate ???!

I am very chuffed with this – and now VERY tired. I REALLY hope she likes it !

So¬†to jotter labels – yuck….

Birch trees

I saw a card very similar to this over at Paper Trufflez and just had to CASE it. I love birch trees with their papery, silvery bark.

¬†* Image is Papertrey Ink’s Through the Trees. This image is the one that made me simply have to have this PTI set – and the complementary images are just as lovely !

* Ink is Versamark, Walnut Ink Distress Inks and Brilliance Aurora brayed in the background.

This is for the box¬†– y’know, the one I planned to fill over the summer? Well, we’re getting there again !

And one more thing – I got a secret….. Tell you on September the 1st….

A card for September Emma

So this is ALMOST the card I had in mind last night when I made these GORGEOUS¬† flowers ! However, I ruined my last strip of toning ribbon trying to make one of these bows (too fiddly for an early morning !) and I’m not sure if the black is too hard with all the white. Oh well, it’s still v pretty I think (but not quite as pretty as Emma !)

I’m also going to put it in for A Passion for Papertrey’s challenge (and an old card which also fits the criteria – that makes FOUR entries, and I didn’t think I did DL cards !!!)

* mat is die cut with Mat Stack 3 and them stamped in Ancient Page Primrose with the Bookplate image from Papertrey Ink’s All Booked Up

* sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s Vintage Picnic, stamped in Versaink

* all else is stash !

It’s a smidge scary that the last two days have been almost as productive as the whole summer, in terms of card making ! However, I’ve had my fix for this week (and like all addicts, I WANT MORE !) I have SOOOOO much school work to do over the rest of the weekend. Maybe see you next weekend? Have a good one !

I am in LOVE….

Check these pretties, made from this video. ( THANK YOU SO MUCH SARITA !!!)

I have always loved these type of flowers, but they tend to be outta my budget.

Not anymore, baby.

Have rattled 6 out with Glimmer Mists in half an hour.

OH. MY.

Wait til you see September Emma’s card with one of these on it.

She’s a pretty, pretty girl.

So are these.

For Emma (but the wrong one.. oops!!)

You’ve not seen many cards for the box recently, basically because you’ve not seen many cards recently !! My last few entries are specifically to fill my birthday book – I like to do that over the summer, but we know that my attention this summer has been focussed on other things, don’t we??

ANYHOW ( let it go, breathe it out, yada, yada, yada….)

This card is for my petrol-head friend, Emma. She adores cars, so I hope she likes this card ! I’m also entering it for A Passion for Papertrey’s competition this fortnight. It’s based on the Taylored Expressions challenge where I went after seeing Chupa’s FABULOUS entry to APFP¬†¬†

* Background paper is from a cheap atlas

* Image and sentiment are Papertrey Ink’s Enjoy the Ride. I used the PTI die to cut out the car before stamping it with black Versaink, and I also stamped and trimmed a separate license plate.

* The headlights are diamond stickles

* All else is stash

So you may be wondering why it’s the wrong Emma – well, I like to do my cards in chronological order, and I’ve muddled my two dear Emma’s up. One’s September and the other November. Gee, I guess that means I’ll have to make another card this weekend, right???!

One last thing, see the narrow ribbon ? That is from the favour boxes Emma had at her wedding earlier this summer. You may call recycling it cheap, I call it sentimental… !

For Laura

To whom this sentiment is truly appropriate – she really does. Laura was the colleague I worked with closely last year and I swear she made me sane somedays. She’s just LOVELY and very thoughtful.

* image and sentiment is Papertrey Ink’s Year of Flowers:Roses

* inks are Versamark embossed with a slightly glittery embossing powder, and Elzybells Sugar Candy for the aura effect. Sentiment is stamped in Ancient Page Primrose.

Sorry about the shadows – typical, the sunniest days of the holidays are when we go back to school.

That’ll be tomorrow, folks¬† *wink*

Second spring

… or Autumn (as it’s otherwise known) is almost on us.

Yes, it is.

Proof ? a) School starts on Monday b) they are harvesting all around us and c) it smells like Autumn.

You know what I mean.

And I’m happy about it – Autumn is my FAVOURITE season by miles. It’s just so beautiful. Love it.

So to celebrate Autumn’s arrival, I present to you a card.

You’re getting it big cos I love it. Really love it.

The starting point was the challenge on A Passion for Papertrey for long and tall cards – this is a DL (unusual for me)

I originally thought about doing 3 of something to fill the page, but then ( out of the FAR TOO MANY PTI sets I haven’t used this summer ūüė¶ ) I saw this lovely leafy tree stamp and it kinda came together after that. And I’m happy with it. I have loved the “aura” effect I’ve been seeing on several of the PTI ladies cards so I thought I’d give that a go (v easy !!) I also¬†pushed myself to do more that my very minimal mat ‘n’ mount CAS style and I¬†think I’ve achieved that too, hence the LONG ingredient list ! Got a cuppy to hand ??¬†

* images are Papertrey Ink’s Through the Trees

* Inks used are Versamark, Versaink and Brilliance

* spritzed with Aspen Gold Glimmer Mist

* Sentiment panel disressed with Tim Holtx Distressing thing (?!)

* Punched with a Fiskars Threading Water punch.

Hope you like it almost as much as I do !

Well, “holidays” are over so I can now resume normal-ish service. Hopefully it won’t be as long between creations !

It’s the final countdown….

This time next week I will be up to my waist in 6-7 yr olds ( I say waist cos they’re all v small…) and I can’t wait. Simply because it means this lame excuse for a holiday is over – apart from a few days, it has truly sucked and I feel like I’ve been chasing my tail all summer. Not a good¬†feeling. I think I need the total structure of routine that school gives me. However, give me a couple of weeks and I have no doubt I’ll be counting down to the next holidays… !

Anyhow. Here is picture of my current creativity.

I reckon I have used over 200 laminating sheets and cut out over 3000 items – most of them twice. You know, I can hear your envy from here…. and this is the tidier version. I have to keep telling myself (and DH) that they will now last forever. Unfortunately, I know this will depend on how destructive the class are… but they’ll only do it once (evil cackle)

So, when the laminating, cutting out, planning, organising, labelling are done ( and the pigs flying) I may get back to proper creating, the kind that fills my soul. the kind I’ve needed to do for the last six weeks.

Suppose I’d better spend some time with my kid before that. Haven’t seen her around here for a while. Hmmmm, what’s her name again???

Stress stress stress

So, with two thirds of the summer holidays gone, I feel like I have achieved NOTHING.

Worse than that, I have actually gone backwards in some areas – like I reckon I’ve put 1/2 a stone back on over the past 4 weeks. Bleepity-bleep.

Have you seen how few cards I’ve made? And, apart from 1 single dress, the sewing machine has been back in it’s home. No quilts finished/started, no table mats or wall hangings.

School stuff is scattered all over our dining room table – but nothing is finished.

And I feel STRESSED.

Not fun.

But here’s a card I totally CASEd from Noora at Searching Soul¬†and by CASEd, I mean as close as possible without the exact materials. If I’d had those, this woulda been a twin card.

* background is cuttlebugged with Stylised Flowers

* ink is onyx versafine

* flower image is Smartworks

* leaf image is ? sorry !

* painted with orange Twinkling H2O’s and embellished with pink stickles.

Anyhow, off to do MORE school work, then going to watch Sleeping Beauty with DD while doing planning for school. Yeah, teachers get GREAT holidays…!
