Teacher thank you

DD has just finished her first year of nursery school, and has LOVED every minute of it. I think one of the chief reasons has been the sheer fabulousness of her teacher, who seems to be a bit of a Mary Poppins (DD is an AVID thumb sucker – I think one day we’ll have to cut it off  – but she doesn’t do it in Nursery, because Mrs. S said so…. Yup, you KNOW I tried that one at home and got an old-fashioned look from the 3 yr old… )

Anyhow, tonight was a bit of a rush as I forgot DD finishes school tomorrow, whereas the area I work in finishes on Friday. I had already bought a mug for Mary Pop.. sorry, Mrs S. , so I baked a very quick batch of THE BEST COOKIES IN THE WORLD ( as claimed by DH and my colleagues – and these people know their cookies !! ) which I’ll put in a posh bag with this card.

 * image is by A Muse ( but I can’t find it on their site) inked with Versafine

Super super fast. I have loved Nichole Heady’s looped ribbons since she started doing them, and mine is a take on on her technique.

I love the fact that my creativity can allow me not to have to rush out to Asda for a quick gift …and I bet Mrs. S won’t get another card like this ( I just hope she realises DD didn’t make it. The kid has enough pressure having me as her mother…)

Incidentally, sad news. One of my favourite stamp companies – Elzybells – is closing down. Boo. She is one of the few British companies that can hold it’s own in terms of originality with our American counterparts, but she has decided to call it a day. I sincerely hope that whatever Elizabeth moves onto brings her as much pleasure as her stamps have brought me.

PS. Two more sleeps !!!

Summer To-do

I saw this.

I loved it.

I made it.

(not as catchy as “veni vedi vici” but I catered a huge party today , what did you do???)

Ta dahhhhh!

 Happy me. Hopefully happy kid. And a happy fun-filled purposeful summer.

It’s not perfect (seriously) but nothing is, right? (my mexican chicken fiesta ring was thisclose today, though 😉 !)

Have a good one – we break up from school on Friday…. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY !

Hello PTI box. Welcome to my home…

Yup, it’s here. Not without a little trauma however.

“Released from customs” meant to the Parcelforce depot in Perth …and a further charge of £22. Ridiculous. As the nice Parcelforce-man said, it’s worth an email to challenge the charge, so that’s what we’ll do.  Not that I’ll get back the 2hr return trip to pick the parcel up …the alternative was paying a further £8 for Parcelforce to do what it’s already been paid for. Grrrrr….

Anyhow. You wanna see my stuff???

 OOOOH!!! Now I just want to break out these babies and play!!!

Unfortunately, we’re having the extended family over tomorrow for a celebration meal as DH graduated this week (he’s a clever cookie as well as being drop dead gorgeous !!) so I have to tidy, clean and cook. Bother.

Any advice on how to use a tan embossing mat?

A recipe for friendship

Another card following the Clean and Simple sketch.

Sorry, but I have NO idea where this stamp came from ! It was one of the first I ever bought as unmounted, and I don’t think it has ever been inked !

* decorative paper is Papertrey Ink ( but I won it in a challenge here!)

* ink is versafine.

One of these babies is going to my wonderful friend Annie – who I’ve known now for 16 years (WHAT !!!) since we worked together in the Black Hole of Calcutta …oops, I mean a BT call centre. The rest are for the box.

Congratulations card

Do you know what I discovered when making this card? I don’t have a stamp that simply says “congratulations” (wonder if PTI do one !!) This was prompted by one of my colleagues getting engaged last weekend – BLESS!! It’s quite plain, because he’s a he (gettit??!) and I don’t know her AT ALL  – so I’m hoping simple translates as elegant. Semi-based on this sketch.

* Image was a freebie from Craft Stamper

* ink is Gold Encore embossed with gold embossing

* sparkle is diamond stickles (and that ‘school’s finished for another week’ feeling !!)

* all else is stash

Although I made a couple of spares for my own use, as always, for the box.

I went to a class at Stampaholics around these stamps and just ADORED them. I thought these cards – based around this sketch – would be cool for teens …..or men who never grew out of wanting to be Bon Jovi !

* image is Rockstar by Inkadinkado

* ink is versafine

* all else is scraps

You know where these are going, right? Yup, into the box.

PS. PTI has “cleared customs” – YAY YAY YAY!!!

Dah-da-da-dahhhhh, Dah-da-da-dahhhhh…

Crafting has been a bit on the fritz this week – I blame the weather. We flowers of Scotland are NOT used to the glorious sunshine and hot temperatures that we’re experiencing just now – the last time was four years ago, when I was heavily pregnant with DD (…shudder)

I have been trying to make one of these but I started by spray-painting too thick a layer which has run and crackled. Not in a stylish, vintage-y way 😦 Never mind, I’ll see if I can rescue it and post the completed one here.

ANYWAY – onto the card. A wedding card (yes, that da da stuff in the title was supposed to be the Wedding March… Oh, you didn’t get that ??!) Pretty simple, based on this sketch , which I love and will return to again …like in about 10 minutes !

* image is Hobby Art Wedding Cake stamped in Versafine

*  Diamond stickles for that sparkle

* all else is scraps !

An update on PTI order. Apparently it arrived in the UK yesterday morning and was ushered into the mysterious world of customs…. So your guess is as good as mine as to when it arrives in my hot little hands. Oh, I hope TOMORROW !!!

Another sympathy card

I love Stamps Happens stamps (bit of a mouthful to say tho!) and I think they make lovely, thoughtful cards which are often appropriate for those sadder moments.

* Image is Through the Storm from Stamps Happen

* coloured with Koh-in-noor pencils (and on sale too !)

* inks are Versafine black and Elzybell Sugar Candy

I have another card to show you…

Poor, unfullfilled card 😦

I had a great idea for a card using my new Papertrey Ink stamps but they’re not here yet… (so I’m stalking the postie !) However, I often forget my ideas, so I decided to get as much done as possible to the card before the stamp arrives… looking a little bare, right?! Can you guess which stamp is going to make this card’s dream come true ?!

Sketch based cards

…are my go-to just now for ideas. And I love that I can often use up my scraps with them! (However A Passion for Papertrey is doing a one layer card challenge this week and I’m determined to enter ! )

Here are a couple of cards based on this sketch. I’m not convinced, but that’s what you get on little sleep !

As you  can see, they are pretty similar, although I wish I had double mounted the pink candles too.

* candles are Hobby art, coloured with emboss markers

* sentiment is from Papermania

They’re ok, but I’m not in love with them. Hopefully someone else will be – at least enough to buy them from the box !

I have a more restful weekend planned than last weekend, but we’ll see what adventures haapen along the way !

Good morning….

…altho I would have liked a good night. Having some problems sleeping just now – usually very early wake-ups but sometimes not being able to sleep. Like tonight. I read once that those kind of nights were called ‘white nights’ – rather a lovely name for a rather unlovely thing !

Speaking of white, here is one of the wedding cards that has been sitting in my head.

* image is Stampendous, coloured with Emboss pens

* swirl background is cuttlebugged

* all else is stash

I think it’s quite sweet ! A good addition to the box.
