Hmmm… I’ve seen something like this before …

Yup. This post.

Well, I loved that first ATC (okay, and the second. And the third….) and I could see it as a card.

A smidge unsure if it’s worked….

…. but it’s another four for the box!

Oh, you don’t know about the box? Well, go here.

* Flower : Elzybells Floral Fervour

12 cards – 1 hour

From ink to finish.

Leaving me enough time to finish watching CSI with a profiterole.

I love it when a plan comes together ūüėČ

Tiny Tearfund cards.

I love these !! They are very small – really notelets rather than cards but I thought thad’d be great for just popping into a friend’s letterbox/pigeonhole etc or as a wee thank you after a dinner out. I plan to sell these as a set for ¬£1 because they were SOOO quick to make!

 * stamps are g-studio Р99p at Dunelm Mill ( I LOVE THAT SHOP !!!!)

 * Inks are distress РFaded Denim and Peeled Paint

 * coloured with pencils.

I’m gonna make a WHOLE LOT MORE of these babies !

Hopefully, I’ll be tackling a few more cards and crafts this weekend – well, it is the Bank Holiday ! YAY !! However, I first have to tidy (boo!) and do the food shop (boo!) Why do my family expect to be fed and not have a slovenly house??!

Cards for Tearfund.

Ok – so I didn’t get back to you. Well, I warned you¬†I was busy !

Anyhow, these are the cards I was going to show you.

And here is why they are special.

About 2 months ago, it was Tearfund Sunday in our church. Tearfund is a Christian organisation who work to provide relief from poverty through the local churches. We watched a video that told the story of Stidia – go here and spend 5 minutes watching it – I was very moved.¬† Briefly, Stidia lives in a rural village in Uganda, Africa. She is thirteen years old and every day she walks for two hours to collect water for her family. Every day, she is likely to be beaten – or worse – by gangs of boys. Her other big problem is that she is frequently late for school and misses lessons…. Seriously – this is one of her major concerns after the threat of rape !

I came away from church feeling very frustrated because I couldn’t think how I could do something more practical. My time is very tied up between work and family. However, I have also been listening to a lot of Joyce Meyer¬†and I remembered a broadcast she had done where she talked to a woman who had raised $1000 for her charity by providing a spa day for her friends – she was a qualified masseuse and used her skills to raise funds. And a lightbulb went off. I make cards. I like making cards. People like my cards. ¬†I could sell some of my cards…

So I’ve decided to spend the summer building up a stash of cards to sell. I’m thinking about once a month in my church, and perhaps at work too – if all the high heid yins involved agree.

And these are my first designs – think they’ll do ? I’m planning on charging ¬£1 for a basic card such as above.

And the cool thing? If I just sell these 4 cards above, that’ll still make a difference to people like Stidia.

For Hannah.

This is a thank-you card to our dear friend, Hannah.

Hannah is one of those people who will do anything in her power to help someone, even if it really puts her out. She is kindness and generosity personified, and this card is LONG overdue. She is also a fabulous gardener, so these stamps by Elzybells are very appropriate. I hope she like it !

My plan is to have a few more cards to show you this weekend, but I also have a day long course tomorrow (on Maths – yup, I AM that dedicated) and a dedication of our friends’ baby on Sunday. Busy, busy, busy – but only 6 weeks til the end of term !!! YAY !!!

YES, I DO HAVE MORE THAN ONE FRIEND !!!

.

.. so I can make another entry for the PTI challenge –¬† http://apassionforpapertrey.blogspot.com/2010/05/challenge-friends.html

Remember I said I had a card brooding in my head? Well, this isn’t it! But I just LOVE this PTI set (and, yes, I have my eye on the new chair set too – ooh! )

I REALLY wanted to make this card in yellows and oranges – this sofa just screams those colours to me,¬†( in case you’re wondering about the decor in my house, no – we’re brown leather sofa and magnolia walls!!) – but I didn’t have a bold enough colour to hold it’s own behind the vellum layer.

* main image and sentiment are On My Couch by PTI

* flowers are Smartworks

* inks are Distress – Dusty Concord and Milled Lavendar – and Whispers Violet

This sentiment is just perfect for a very dear friend of mine who I MUST MUST MUST get in touch with so it’ll be going in the post TODAY!!

Funny thing… I said in my last post that the scanner was chucked… well it heard, and has gone in the huff. It will now only scan in black and white …

<——– !

The sad thing is, I’m not convinced I don’t like this version better than the colour one…!

Birds flyin’ high…

… you know how I feel… (I’ve got the hang of tri-shutter cards) and I’m feeling GOOD !!

I saw a LOVELY birdie tri-shutter somewhere and thought – OOOH!! So I made one. There are a lot of birdie people in our family – especially the chaps – so this’ll go in the family folder. I suspect¬†I might make an easel card while the kit is all out – Father’s Day is coming up too !

* inks are all distress – Teadye, Walnut and Faded Jeans

* big bird stamp is Cat’s Life Press ¬†(ooh have I just worked out how to embed a link???)

* all other stamps are Smartworks – old catty

I have to tell you, last week a box arrived from the US STUFFED with stamps. I had ordered a few (hundred) from Smartworks as their old catty is half price. Well, the very generous Susan had added 6 РYES, SIX Рother beauties to the pile, and they were clearly chosen to fit in with my other purchases РI had pondered over several she had added. Well, the whole kit and kaboodle cost me about £36 Рand it took 2 and half sheets of EZMount to get the lot ready to ink. SUCH a bargain, v reasonable postage Рand FABULOUS service too. Seriously worth a visit. Now you go clickity-click to http://www.smartrubber.com/ Рtell Susan I sent you !

Another Passion for Papertrey Challenge

… this time it’s for FRIENDS.

Now you’d think that was easy enough – eh? Nope. Felt quite challenged – I think because the examples are SO FABBY – http://apassionforpapertrey.blogspot.com/2010/05/challenge-friends.html¬†– see what I mean? Well. I’m hiding behind the old ” too busy” excuse (hey, reports, Hen days in Glasgow,reports, ¬†forward plans and reports = OFFICIALLY BUSY !!!!)

I made this a while back out of scraps and I’m not saying it’s anywhere near a great card, but it qualifies so it’s in. There’s 2 things I really like about it – I’m very impressed with my colouring – it’s pencils and oil. Get me. ( and get them here – http://www.elzybells.co.uk/search.asp?types=yes&type=Basic+Supplies+%3E+Colouring¬†) I also love the size – It’s TEENY !!! About A7. I think cards like that are great for friends because it is just a thought as opposed to a grand gesture (altho those are good too…!)

* stamps are PTI Autumn Abundance

* all else is scraps from stash !

Incidentally, sucky scanner is being demoted !!! I have been losing weight and promised myself a cheapish digital when I reached a certain milestone – the Amazon order is in and the postie is being stalked !! The squinty effect you have come to love and admire will be banished !

I will be back later this weekend with another tri-shutter card, and, if I have time, another stab at this challenge.¬†I have a different design sitting brooding in my head, reports are finish, planning folder is on boss’ desk, pigs are fed and ready to fly !

Have a great Saturday !

CPS Challenge – squinty scanner effect again !

Hey, it’s FRIDAY!!!! And it seems to have been a super-long week despite having Bank holiday Monday, and no kids in school yesterday for the election. Kinda wierd not knowing who’s in charge of the country right now, too…!

I saw this challenge while blog hopping last week – http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2010/05/reader-ideas-week-of-5210.html¬†– a card sketch to win Taylored Expressions stamps (they have a GORGEOUS set re reading that I crave) I liked the sketch so I made this card…

* image is Jolly Nations

*¬†photo is of Glencoe (I didn’t take it-found it on Wikipedia)

*¬†backing paper is real map paper (shhhh… don’t tell DH I nicked it outta the car road map ¬†!!)

I’m pretty pleased with it – DH’s dad does a bit of walking so it’ll go under his name for Father’s Day/ birthday/ whatever!!!

So fingers crossed!!

Loving special fold cards…

I think there’s something really special about recieving a card that is a different shape or size from normal. A handmade card is lovely, but when Tesco’s is selling “handmade” cards, the impact is a bit lessened (esp by non-crafty mere mortals ūüėČ !!!). I think by now you’ll have worked out I like the Easel card format – and, seriously, it’s getting easier and easier !! – so that’s what the first card is. It’s for my dear SIL – who is as classy as I hope this card reflects !

Speaking of reflection…. The paper below the image is a shiny dark¬†gold …and my T-shirt is red. Oops !!

*I think the image is an old Art by Moonlight one – I tried to find out but they seem to have disappeared…

* “best wishes” is Papertrey Ink ‘Beyond Basic Borders’ heat embossed with gold

* Brown Ink is Walnut Distress

* All else is stash!

My second card is a pattern that has always been a little more elusive… The tri-shutter style is easy enough to cut out, but I have found it hard to marry up enough DP(decorative paper)¬†in the past so it looks varied but coordinated ( It’s a bit like vintage – I could have exactly the same elements as someone, do just what they say and mine looks like a heap of junk piled into a spill of PVA, whereas their’s looks eclectic and sweet. Grrr) This time¬†I used the same paper all over, but used my trusy distress inks to ..well, ‘distress’ some panels. I am well chuffed with this one too !! It will either go to dad or little brother – both have done the Tall Ships experience so I can make justify making boaty cards for them!!

 This was SUCH a pain to photo for you!! It was breezy outside and it kept falling over because the wall is very uneven! I hope you appreciate it!

* the stamps are all Woodware “By the Sea” coloured with emboss markers then embossed

* the windows and portholes are Diamond Stickles

* all else is stash !

BTW you can click on the images to enlarge them. Well, they are so fabulous, you might feel better when you see the mistakes !!

Anyhow, off to turn off the soup and go for a walk! Still chilly out there though ! This afternoon is going to be all about the dreaded Planning for school – gotta be done as have meeting about it on Thursday. Would rather be stamping….
