Ombre

The PTI Blue Skies challenge was to create a blue ombre card, so here’s my effort !

Margaret C

It’s very plain and simple – I don’t know whether to add a sentiment to it or not….

Anyhow, the koi fish stamp is from Papertrey Ink’s Masculine Motifs set. And that’s it !

Metallic and neutrals

Margaret C

Eeek……

That’s was such a tricky concept!!!! I think I got there, grey and white on vellum are my neutrals and I went with silver as my metallic. I love silver, but it’s not my ‘colour’ to wear apparently… Doesn’t stop me though!

So, last card for the PTI challenges – I’ve really been involved much more than I have ever in the past, and it’s been a great way to kick start my stamping again!

So, details!

I used PTI’s Tin Types, and Stampin’ Up’s Swallowtail butterfly.

Buttonhole Bouquets!

Margaret CAm I the only one that’s finding these Papertrey Ink challenges hard ?!!

This bouquet challenge stumped me at first because it asked for  ‘a bouquet created with more than one floral stamp set

I don’t have a HUGE amount of floral stamps – the ones I have get pretty heavy use, but not a vast choice when you consider style and size…. So I cheated a bit and used a wee stamp from the Year of Flowers Collection set as the background to my big flower.

And I was SOOOO chuffed with myself when I came up with this card design !!!! So chuffed !! Y’see, I’m not a pretty-pretty floral girl, and I don’t really have the knack of pretty-pretty cards… especially with florals. Hey, I’m okay with it ! So when this idea jumped in, I grabbed it with both hands. I think it would be great if a male family member/close friend was getting married.

Deets are:

Papertrey’s Friends Til the End and Year of Flowers – the Collection

Never used schtuff….

The next challenge on the PTI Anniversary roller-coaster is a challenge to use something PTi that you’ve never used/rarely used. Well….. I only have a couple of sets that I’ve not got round to using and Background Basics Text Style is one such set. I LOVE text stamps and have a few yet have never used this set. I think chiefly because the text stamps are quite narrow and I usually use text as a background and I hate trying to line everything up and…and… and… and I should have used this set ages ago! They line up like a dream and I particularly love the fact you can read the text !!! I’m sure it’ll become a firm favourite….

Anyhow, I used a few bits of PTI schtuff here – Background Basics Text Style, Beautiful Blessings and the butterfly die

Woosh….

…. hear that?

That’s the sound of me passing my comfort zone and leaving it far,far behind….

So it’s PTI’s 8th anniversary and I love PTI ! I reallllly needed to make some cards (having just been doing bits and pieces for the past year, there is NO surplus…!)  so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone and enter a couple of the challenges. This is the challenge for the first day – card sketch AND colour scheme. Hmmmmm….. Card sketches don’t frighten me, colour schemes do. Especially when they are pretty bright, like many of the PTi schemes were. But it’s a CHALLENGE, so that’s exactly what I did, challenged myself….Margaret C

Just in case you can’t tell, I used the 3rd colour scheme, and the 7th sketch.

It probably would have worked better if I had the actual inks…. or maybe I still wouldn’t particularly like it. Oh well !!

I do love the fading background pattern, and I do love the white embossed flower. Will be using these again !!

So, deets:

I use PTI’s Friends Til the End  and Guidelines, so that’s me qualified to enter….

This is the Wishlist competition – oh my !! Yup, as long as my arm, so fingers crossed – if I win with this card, then suddeny it will become my most favourite card ever !!!

oops, I did it again….

Just disappeared, that is. For almost a whole year.

Oh my.

Fact is, I did some stuff in that time. I learned how to sew stuff I would actually wear on a daily basis and I even made a few cards.

Oh yeah, and the profound shift in my thinking patterns.

Yeah, CBT rocks.

So, I’d like to be back here, posting cards and stuff. maybe entering a few competitions. We’ll see….

Welcome to the rest of my life!

CASEing Maile Belles

oooh, there’s a hardship….

‘cos I’ve never CASEd Ms. Belles before….

…nope, not me….

(yup, lying through my teeth)

Maile Belles is probably my favourite PTI artist. Every month she produces clean and simple and FRESH. Every month, I look at her stuff and think ‘yup, could do that’ so the challenge in this is to just pick one !!!

I went with the One Layered Wonders at an Angle post she did last year – just not one layered ! And it went together so fast and easy ! I can see more of these in the near future !

Margaret C

i used 3 PTI sets, the flower is Friends Til The End, the background is A Little Argyle and Simple Sentiments finish it off.

Mother’s Day card

I’m dating this to publish after Mother’s Day – she may be back to checking my blog !!

I am really pleased with this – lots of o-o-o-o-o-ld techniques and stamps that I used at the start of my stamping journey, and you forget how gorgeous they can be ! I was completely inspired by Jacqueline from  Jacqueline’s Craft Nest, although I can’t find the card I was specifically inspired by – sorry ! But her site is a gorgeous way to get some inspiration !

So my old techniques – alcohol ink on glossy card (then couldn’t remember what ink you needed to stamp with on glossy !) and versamark ‘shadowing’ on the base card

* images – floral ones are all old Hero Arts ( from over 10 yrs ago probably !)

* sentiment ? – one of the first I ever bought as just rubber, when that option wasnt even really available in the UK !

I hope Mum likes it !

Posting as I go….

I’ve decided that, unless I’m entering a particular challenge, I’m posting my cards on this ‘ere blog as I make them. Here’s a couple I made last weekend;

Sentiment: umm….. ?

Is Spring here ?

I made three cards this afternoon, and when I laid them all out, I realised they were all very green….

Now, I like green – probably one of my favourite colours – but its never been a colour I’ve really focussed on crafting with. And I didn’t today. I guess I’m just craving light… and signs of growth… and Spring !!!! We have been lucky not to have had the horrendous weather that other parts of Britian and the world have had, but I’m tired of damp, cold and dark. Bring on Spring.

Anyhow, here are the cards –
